A dog is one the friendliest animals in the animal kingdom. While choosing a dog you may want something cute and adorable like a bundle of fluff streaking across your house floor. Well, if this is what you need then you should probably think of getting a Labrador puppy. These are gentle yet highly energetic puppies that are bound to mesmerize you. But first of all you will need to think about the type of Labrador you want. This is because Labradors come in two breeds.
These breeds are the English Labrador and the American Labrador. These two dogs types have different looks which will help you when you are planning to adopt or buy one of these dogs. In the breed of dog itself there are 4 colorations which informs the breeders of what type of puppy that you are looking to add to your family.
These colors which you can find your Labrador puppy in are silver, yellow, chocolate, and black. The usual colors of the Labrador don’t include silver, this color has caused controversy among dog breeders. Some of the breeders claim that any Labrador puppy which has a silver coat is a cross with a Weimeriner. Other breeders state that the silver coat is that of a true mutation.
A Labrador is more likely to fit into the lifestyle of a person who is energetic in nature as Labradors are known to be full of energy. The lab, as it is more commonly known as, is a dog that has a great liking for swimming activities. Unlike other dogs, a lab is bred to swim. These dogs are excellent swimmers due to webbing found on their paws. It is great to find that the Labrador breed has a very easy to groom, water resistant coat, which proves to be an added advantage for Labrador owners.
The Labrador puppy, just like all other puppies, loves to interact with people. It can be easily trained to be well disciplined and obedient in nature. Just like any other dog, exercising your Labrador is not a big issue. However it is advised that you keep your Labrador puppy engaged into some activity at all times. This is because of the fact that an idle Labrador puppy can become highly destructive.
While Labrador puppies are not generally bred to become guard dogs, they do have this ability. It would be wise to broaden the scope of learning as it would enable your puppy to become more disciplined and friendly when it is fully grown. The patience shown while taking care of your Labrador puppy can make your puppy friendlier and happier.

It’s not an easy thing to adopt a puppy, not in the way of being unable to come by a cute and adorable puppy that will fit into your lifestyle, but because to adopt a puppy means that you will necessarily need to adjust your life to fit the puppy.
Catering to your new puppy’s needs would require you to implement some changes in your lifestyle. Since the puppy has just suffered a separation from everything that he knows till now, it would be required from you to spend some time close to him and provide him with love, care and affection.
When you adopt a puppy you will need to be willing to devote at least some time in these initial stages to housetraining him. Or if you don’t have the time to do this, you need to be willing to at least send your puppy to the canine version of kindergarten. Before you do any of these things though you should have an idea of what your cute looking puppy is going to look like as a fully grown adult dog.
At this you might be thinking that it doesn’t matter what the dog looks like later on in life? Well you may get into some serious trouble for thinking like this because of the fact that every dog has a certain temperament. Some puppies might attach themselves to a single person while others may like getting attention from everyone.
Still some dogs may have a choosy nature when it comes to food while others may eat everything put in front of them, even things that you would never think of placing in front of them. Adopting a puppy means bringing an animal into your life. It also means that the animal is going to be fully dependent on you. But this may not stop your cute puppy changing into a full grown dog with a mindset of its own.
So before you adopt a puppy take a good look at what your cute puppy of today looks like tomorrow. You will then know how much of space this puppy will need. The space needs to be for the indoors and outdoors. You need to know if your puppy is the type who is happier with a task to do outside like Alsatians or Dobermans. These large sized dogs are well suited to guarding your home and property.
Once you have an idea of the puppy’s temperament you need to know just how much you can spend on food, toys, veterinary trips, medicine and discipline. Now these items are necessary for the physical, emotional and mental health of your new puppy. Of course all of these concerns shouldn’t put you off wanting the companionship of a puppy.
You should however be prepared for how much your life will change when you adopt a puppy. This cute bundle of mischief has the ability of bringing joy and laughter into your life.
