You are going to want to know all the entry points of your location including your windows and doors. Then you are going to have to decide on the type of system you want, whether you want a company monitored system, or whether you want a direct line system that is going to dial the necessary emergency numbers if the alarm has been triggered. You also are going to want to decide on how much you want to spend on your security set-up, as you will find that there are many elaborate security systems Auckland on the market, but there is no need for something that you’re not going to utilize fully. You can certainly follow the advice of the professionals that are selling the systems, and take into consideration their recommendations. Mind you, it is always wise to check out the many reviews that are found on the internet, as this information is from the clients themselves, and not the company selling the systems.
You are going to need to know where you want the control panels when setting up the alarm system, so that you will have quick access to them when you are coming and going. You will find that you will need to have a main keypad which will engage and disengage the alarm when you come and go. Then there will be what is called “panic buttons” throughout the home. Generally in a home these are often near the bedrooms, whereas in a business, they are usually near the central reception area, as well as the individual offices.
You will want full coverage when it comes to your alarm system, and this means not only for someone breaking into your home or business, but also sensors that will detect smoke and carbon monoxide, and perhaps even a flood as well. The holidays can bring out the best and worst of people, and it only gets worse each and every year. While we think the holidays are a happy time of year and that we will forever be happy and sedated, it may surprise a few to learn that not everyone is like that. For some of us the holiday season is horrible and miserable and we just do not want to go through with it at all. Think of that movie Christmas with the Kranks if you will. In that movie, the realization that they spent over 6000 on their last holidays, makes the Kranks want to skip Christmas and go on a Caribbean cruise and forget everything there is to know about Christmas. This sound like a fantastic notion and it made me want to skip everything all together and go on a vacation. If this is something that you are thinking about and you are just going to forget all about Christmas, then make sure you don’t forget about alarm systems on your great adventures.
There are times when we don’t need to think about the future and the things that might happen during those times, but when we go away for the holidays then we should think about the things that could happen while we are away forgetting about Christmas. While alarm systems aren’t on our minds most of the time, they should be when we are thinking about leaving Christmas behind for bigger and better things. Actually if you think about it you could get a system for Christmas if you start dropping hints throughout the year. Make up a story about a friend of a friend that went away over the holidays and forgot to set an alarm and then their house got robbed and it ruined Christmas forever. I’m sure you would get a system from someone.
So is that something that you want from Christmas? Even if it isn’t something that you want, you could probably think of someone who could benefit from having one in their homes right? It doesn’t even have to be something big or expensive, as long as it reacts when someone comes into your or their home, then everything is as it should be. You might be able to get some kind of deal if you refer friends and family to the store that you bought yours as well, which is always a bonus.
Presents always seem to stump people this time of year, and we never seem to learn our lessons as time goes by. We ourselves don’t drop proper hints when it comes to getting what we want, and we never listen to those that do. Everything would be a lot easier if we paid attention, however no one is paying us to pay attention right? Now there is an idea, someone should pay us for Christmas and all the time and effort we put into it each year.
If you are thinking about going away over the holiday season and you have yet to think about alarm systems, then now might be the perfect time. You want to relax on your holiday and not have to think about your home and if anything has happened whilst you are away. It is always better to be safe than sorry right?
If you have been thinking about Alarm Systems however you aren’t too sure where to start. Give the professionals at Garrison Alarms a buzz right away!

Boosting your home’s security is a great idea with a home security service. However, once you install such a service there are several things you have to remain vigilant about in order to receive maximum security for your home. Easy measures can help you boost your home’s level of security.
Empty residences are a prime target for burglars. There are clear signs that someone has been away for a while. For instance, the piling up of newspapers and mail is a clear sign that no one is home. When you plan on going on vacation have your newspaper service discontinued until you return. Have your neighbor pick up your mail so that it’s not left untouched on your doorstep or in your mailbox.
Make sure you close your drapes well before leaving. Set TVs, radios and lights on timers. Have your neighbor park their car in your driveway. All of these things will give the impression that the house is occupied, even while you are away from home.
Easy escape routes are what most burglars look for. In order to deter such thieves, include high fences around your property. Instead of large bushes, which can be great hiding spots for thieves, choose shorter bushes. Include thorny bushes around the boundaries of your property so that you won’t have any one hiding in them.
All doors and windows must be locked when you leave the house. This includes garage doors, patio doors and sliding doors throughout the home all have to be sealed. Even if you think you’re only going to be gone for a short time. If you have a garden shed, make sure you have a secure lock on it as well. This is especially true if you keep tools in it, you don’t want to make stealing your home easier for a thief.
Keep your expensive items out of sight. Don’t leave expensive lawn mowers, cars, bikes and visible outside. Close your drapes at night to avoid showcasing expensive TVs and other electronics. Exposing your valuables only tempts burglars. Getting in the habit of closing your blinds at night and keeping your garage door closed is essential.
Shred any important financial information before you toss in the garbage. Thieves use this information to assess whether your home is a good break-in candidate. Simple things such as invitations should also not be thrown carelessly away since it can indicate to a burglar when you won’t be at home. Remember, you have to help your home security service so that you, your home and family receive optimal protection.

I have a six year old daughter that loves to swim in our backyard swimming pool. We worry about safety since our dog had fallen into the pool and drowned a coupe summers ago.
After that incident, I bought a Pool Alarm from the home alarm shop. It has an electronic monitoring system which automatically makes a loud noise when kids or even pets plunge into my unguarded pool.
It is very easy to set up and use. Now we know if our daughter decides to get into the pool with out our knowledge by setting off an alarm inside our house.
Once this alarm is armed it cannot be turned off, but it can be put into sleep mode. With a setting like this you will be constantly ready for it to alarm if something ever falls into the pool and is in danger. This pool alarm was delivered to my house and came with simple instructions how to set it up. I was able to do it all by myself.
Two days after we got our pool alarm from the home alarm shop, we invited some neighbors over for lunch. One of our neighbors brought her 5 year old daughter with her.
One of the neighbors brought up that the five year old couldn’t swim. I knew how important this was so I went and turned the pool alarm from sleep mode to active in case there was any kind of emergency. This way we would be ready. We then went outside to watch the children play.
Less than five minutes later, the pool alarm made a deafening noise. I was thinking at first that it was just malfunctioning, however, when I checked outside I found my daughter struggling in the deeper part of our pool.
I absolutely know that the device I got from the home alarm shop saved my daughter’s life and also that my pets are safe now that we have it too. Once the alarm sounded I was able to reach her before she could even breathe water into her small lungs.
