Outdoor picnic tables should be on the must buy list for any family. Children love picnics but it is not always possible to take them to the woods or the beach for a picnic. If you get the table for your backyard you could enjoy a meal outdoors daily of the week if you want.
Nowadays more of us are eating our dinners watching television. It can result in poor communication in families. Historically a family sat round a table to enjoy a meal & conversation. They discussed what happened in their day and usually bonded. This is not possible if anybody is watching the latest version of their favorite show.
Typically most families do not have TV sets in their backyard. Installing some outdoor picnic tables means that you can gather as a family unit to have a meal together. You can have fun discovering what happened during the day and perhaps planning some outings which you can all enjoy together. Time is valuable and childhood goes by so quickly thus do something about your family spending time together today. Do not put it off any more or you may just find that you live in home full of strangers.
Your new table will usually be made from wood. You can purchase it ready made or if you’re handy with a hammer and saw you could make your own. It doesn’t require to appear like a work of art; it only needs to be able to work as a table. You can buy a few low-priced machine cleanable table cloths to hide any glaring errors if necessary.
Outdoor picnic tables add a fun factor to your meal. Get the children together and involve them in the cooking. Cook a few basic meals and sit back & relax as a family getting to know one another again.

Your outdoor furniture table will maintain its beauty and last longer if it is cleaned properly regularly. The method of cleaning will depend upon what the table is made of. If you’ve chosen one of the widely used rattan tables you should get the vacuum out and give it a good going over to remove all the loose dust left behind at family meals.
It is crucial to remove all crumbs as these can attract mice or other rodents who might love to begin chewing on the rattan. Use an extremely gentle detergent to give it an once over wash but select a sunny day so it can dry very fast.
If you have an aluminum outdoor furniture table, you’ll need to be careful not to use ammonia based products while cleaning. If it has a painted finish you could clean it using a mixture of gentle soap and hot water. If its unpainted you may have to use a metal polishing paste to get the original shine back onto the table.
If you have any fabric accessories you can wash these by hand using a gentle washing detergent. First read the care label as it might notify against drying in direct sun or in the tumble dryer. If you could choose a slightly windy day which will aid with the drying process. If you find mold when you’re cleaning you could generally remove it using a diluted solution of bleach and warm water. But don’t use this solution on coloured fabrics as you can cause them to lose their color.
If you own a wooden outdoor furniture table, you can vacuum away the crumbs and then wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth. You might have to add a protective layer of varnish to prevent weather damage but it is greatest to leave this to the professionals if you’ve never tried this sort of thing before.

This is a good spot to locate something like your drink when you are resting in the chair.
There are lots of other designs of seating that Adirondack chairs can be crafted into, for example, a love seat or two seated bench, a rocking chair, or a swing seat. If you want your garden furniture to be the best you have to choose market umbrella stands. These are the ultimate in luxury patio pieces but at reasonable price tags. Sure there are cheaper alternatives on the market but do you want a great product or one that you have to change every year? The term market umbrella is normally only used to describe wooden products and not ones made from plastic, fake wood or metal.
When you buy furniture for your outdoor space you need to spend as much time thinking about your decision as you would for indoors, in fact you might have to take a little longer. The items you buy have to look great while also dealing with the weather. No matter how well protected the piece is, adverse weather will have an impact. This is especially true of cheaper products.
You will have a number of decisions to make such as the size of furniture you want to buy. Market umbrella stands come in a range of sizes so it doesn’t matter if you have chosen a low oriental suite or high back modern style chairs.
You can pick a round, square or rectangular table with an umbrella to match. You may prefer wood or wicker but for a more modern look you might want to choose one made from aluminum or steel instead.
Whatever you buy make sure you purchase your market umbrella stands from a recognized retailer so that you know what you are buying. Ideally you should buy your stand, umbrella and the rest of your patio furniture at the same time so that everything goes well together. You may want to purchase off season to get the best deals but you will have less choice than if you go shopping when the new season starts.

Just like all the other furniture you keep in your home furniture for your patio that you buy today will go out of style eventually. It’s basic marketing. The same thing clothing manufacturers do to keep their customers coming back again and again, year after year. Even so, just like clothing styles, furniture styles, and that includes outdoor furniture will come back around about every 20 years or so. So what was once out will in time be hot again.
So in case you haven’t noticed if you happen to stop by yard sales and flea markets, there seems to be a lot of 60s and 70s era older outdoor pieces that people are pulling out of attics and garages and looking to unload. Sturdy well-made steel outdoor furniture with great lines and design features that are now coming right back in style. But there’s just one problem, and that is that so much of these older neglected pieces are crying out for a new coat of paint.
So after you’ve brought your flea market find home and hosed it off in your driveway, the next is to start moving towards what it’s going to take to get it looking shiny and new with the new paint job. Now it sure would be nice if you could just pick up a couple cans of spray paint and give it a good going over but it’s just not that easy. Sure it will give it a new color but unless you strip it, and remove the rust, it’s just going to look “rough”.
So the first thing you’ll want to do with steel patio furniture prior to stripping is to dismantle it, and chances are the nuts and bolts are rusted on. So a couple of drops of penetrating oil generally do the trick but even then they can be a bit of a struggle. A compact portable propane torch also comes in real handy for heating and loosening rusted on nuts and bolts. Just “blast it” until it’s nice and hot and then you should have an easier time getting things undone.
After you’ve taken everything apart, it’s on to stripping your project down to the bare metal and then treating everything to remove the rust. Paint stripping is incredibly messy so make a point of laying down a nice big tarp and also cover any tables and surfaces you don’t want damaged by the stripper with cardboard. Cardboard has so many uses in crafting and furniture refinishing, and you can find loads of it behind your local market.
Use it good quality furniture stripper and plenty of paper towels to remove the paint, and make sure that you put on a good pair of long-sleeve rubber gloves before you get started with that. Then use naval jelly to strip away any rusty areas before you sand them smooth. Then final step after all that is done will be painting, and you’re always better serving by going with a high-quality exterior grade spray paint. Make sure to hang your pieces up with wire, so you get full coverage in one pass.

If you have recently purchased an outdoor wood table you will want to know how to care for it properly to make it last as long as possible. Wood is a natural product and with a little love and attention it can look fantastic.
The key to keeping your table in top condition is regular maintenance. There is little point in cleaning it once a year and hoping that it will look amazing. You need to clean it on a regular basis. Take a soft scrubbing brush and scrub the table free of all debris including leftover food, bird droppings, kid’s crayons and anything else that may have fallen on it. Don’t start washing it down until you do this as believe me dry bird droppings are much easier to remove.
Check the care instructions on the outdoor wood table and buy the recommended wood cleaning product. Follow the guide on the label especially when it comes to using the right quantity.
Use a spray to apply the cleaning product to the wood. Use your scrub brush to clean the table thoroughly by working it into any groves and dents to remove as much dirt as possible. If you get into the habit of doing this on a regular basis it will be much easier to keep it clean than trying to clean six months worth of dirt at one time.
When it is clean rinse with water to remove all the cleaning solution and leave to dry. This shouldn’t take long especially if you have picked a sunny day to do this task. You may want to apply either a protective coating or a little oil to return your outdoor wood table to its former beauty. When you are not using the table put a protective cover over it not only to help keep it clean but also to prolong its life.

If you currently own a pool or if you are planning on having one installed than no doubt you understand the danger factor that comes with that. Also if you’re like most pool owners or soon to be pool owners, your primary focus will be on the possibility of accidental drowning when it comes to assessing your risk factor. What you may not know though, is that the risk of minor injuries will be an ever present problem that you will have to contend with.
For example one risk you most likely are unaware of because it garners so little publicity, is the chance of somebody striking the bottom of their pool when using a diving board. It’s happening more often these days because pools just aren’t being dug as deep as they used to in the deep end. So then what’s the solution here? The solution here simple. That is to have your pool dug to the proper depth or install a diving board instead.
Then particularly if you have young children who are active there will always be the risk of slips and falls that in some cases can lead to serious injuries. Particularly if someone slips when they’re running to the edge of the pool to dive in then lose traction on their last and hit the edge. The simple solution here is to put up a NO RUNNING sign and then make sure that rule is enforced. Also if you have any concrete flat work done, make sure it’s textured and sloped for adequate drainage.
Then one more danger factor that catches far too many people by surprise, is the risk of cuts the from broken glass. It all starts with people bringing drinks in glass containers and bottles to the pool area, dropping one and breaking it. You see, if you stop and think about it, everyone’s barefoot around the pool and all it takes is one missed piece of glass to cause serious cut. So the easy solution here is to just not allow any glass containers in the pool area.
Unsafe pool toys are another common source of injuries and you’ll be surprised how quickly it happens. Bring a common inner-tube in the pool for instance, and it’s only a matter of time until some young child gouges themselves on the metal air nozzle. Heavy balls like basketballs and football’s when wet thrown from close range can also do permanent damage to young child eye. So the simple solution here is to only buy and use toys that are designed specifically for pool play.
Then of course there’s always the risk of accidental drowning and thinking that can’t happen to you is the first step toward setting yourself up for a tragic accident. The good news though is there have been several technological advancements of recent years that can cut your risk down to almost nothing. For instance a good solid pool safety cover for the wintertime completely eliminates six months of your risk. There are also a lot of new high tech early warning devices available now that are effective and affordable.

If you plan on leaving your outdoor wood table in your garden all year around you need to make sure it is properly protected. Water and wood do not make good companions when it comes to furniture, sheds or other outdoor items. When water gets into wood it causes the wood to expand. Then when the wood is drying out it contracts back to its original size. This continual cycle will eventually cause the wood to warp and crack.
To prevent this happening you must treat your outdoor wood table properly. This means applying a wood sealant if one has not already been applied. If there is any decorative effects on the table made from metal, like an umbrella pole or the table legs, these may also have to be protected depending on what metal has been used. Iron in particular is susceptible to rust and aluminum shows up white marks when it has been exposed to water.
By painting the wood with a stain or wood paint you fill the pores in the wood thus preventing the water from getting inside. Before you start painting, make sure any knots in the wood are properly treated as these are the weak spots. Knots need to be properly sealed before you start sealing the rest of the piece. You need to paint on the stain very carefully to be sure all the pores are filled.
When done properly the rain will simply flow off the wood without causing any damage. Most tables will require treatment every couple of years depending on the climate and the quality of the underlying wood. Hardwood is more resistant to the weather than most soft woods.
You can decide whether to go for a clean stain or a tinted version. Some people like to paint their outdoor wood table white while others prefer the more natural beauty of wood.

If you are shopping for market umbrella stands take your time and shop around. The term “market” is usually used to describe large wooden umbrellas perhaps because they remind people of markets. These are particularly well suited to a large garden but due to their size can be very expensive. But being so large they also take up a lot of storage space and often merchants will hold a sale to dispose of large items that didn’t sell in season. This usually means that shoppers can pick up a fantastic deal on new items.
If your budget is already stretched but you really want market umbrella stands you could keep an eye on the EBay or Craigslist listings to see what offers you can spot. People may be moving house and unable or unwilling to bring their patio furniture to the new home.
An elderly couple may have decided to move into accommodation for older people i.e. smaller houses and flats that tend to come with communal gardens. Whatever the reason you can find real bargains if you are prepared to sort through the listings but be careful as you want to actually receive the goods and not lose your cash in the process.
If you cannot buy all your patio furniture in one go but do not want to purchase second hand stuff, there is nothing wrong with buying a couple of pieces and adding to your collection over time. If you choose a classic style it will never go out of fashion and you will be able to find matching pieces when you have more cash.
You can add your market umbrella stands whenever you buy the patio umbrella. So don’t put yourself under more pressure than you need to. You can have the perfect garden and enjoy those long summer days.

As days grow longer and warmer, more and more time is spent out on the patio. A comfortable patio environment will make sitting outdoors more enjoyable for all seasons. There are actually many possibilities to make the patio a nice and welcoming place to spend your time in. And whether on a budget or shopping higher end there are endless possibilities.
What needs to be done will be determined by the size of your patio. If your patio is small, you may have to make do with a coffee table. Bar tables and patio bar chairs are another great way to save space and have a comfortable patio. Some potted plants here and there, a shelf for some interesting knick-knacks and a lamp post can make your patio a little more charming.
A bigger patio means that you can do a lot of experimentation. You will have so many ideas to work on – a cushioned rocking chair, a box seat that can double as a storage area, a couch or a daybed to flop on. You may also hang a canvass hammock to while away your time. You have to find a place to hang it, preferably in some corner where it cannot hamper movement, and put in some cushion for more comfort.
On the other hand, if your patio is uncovered, one the first thing that will come to mind is a round table set with a large umbrella. Chaise lounges on an uncovered patio are great to for soaking up some sun. Think barbecue nights and put in a grill to relax on lazy Saturday nights.
Finding the furniture of your choice will not be a problem. In choosing, you should be guided by your preferences as well as its intended use. If you expect the furniture to be well used, then you also need to consider the durability of the material. If the demand is not expected to be too much, you may consider furniture made of lighter materials. An option will be furniture made of aluminum because it is strong and can be made comfortable. A patio is a good playground for your artistic talent – you can have your personality stamped on your design concepts. You can build a rock garden themed patio, or Japan inspired with little pagodas, or whatever, the bottom line being that you can create your own world in your patio.
